The document attestation is a lawful procedure to prove the authenticity of a document you carry while traveling to any country. If you are traveling to Taipei, the attestation process is slightly different from other countries. The authorizing body representing Taiwan in India is the Taipei Economic and Cultural Center in India, in the absence of a diplomatic relationship with both countries, it functions as a de facto embassy here in India. As Taiwan is not a part of the Hague convention, the apostille documents are not accepted by the Taiwan government. The document attestation procedure is long and lengthy as it is only recognized abroad subsequent to the consular legalization, that is, the authenticity of the submitted documents is verified separately. The authenticating process is carried out by the Ministry of Home and the Ministry of External Affairs. Then in the final stage, it can be legalized in the Taiwan embassy.
